check it out! Sam Tandy from Harding University has been named the SwingU College Player of the Month for October 2023. This is super exciting news for Sam and for Harding University! He’s the first-ever SwingU Player of the Month from Harding, so that’s a huge achievement. Let’s take a look at what Sam and the other recipients did to earn this awesome recognition.
Omar Morales from UCLA had an impressive month, recording 12 birdies and finishing with a five-under 211 for a T5 finish at the Hamptons Intercollegiate. He followed this up with 15 birdies and an 11-under 205 for his second career collegiate medal at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. Morales finished the month with a 69.22 monthly scoring average.
Now, let’s talk about Sam Tandy. He recorded 15 birdies and one eagle in his nine-under 207, third-place finish at the Battle for the Belt. Then, he used 16 birdies and an 11-under 199 for a one-stroke victory at the NCAA Regional Preview. After receiving Great American Conference (GAC) Men’s Golfer of the Week honors, Tandy closed the month with 13 birdies, one eagle, and a three-under 207 for a T4 finish at the DBU Fall Classic, bringing his monthly scoring average to 68.11. What a month for Sam!
Gonzalo Moreno of Alabama State had a great month as well, finishing with a 70.40 monthly scoring average. Cameron Cappuzzo of Methodist finished with a 70.44 scoring average, and Tom Scullion of Cumberland (TN) had a 71.25 monthly scoring average. Gaspar Glaudas of Indian Hills and Will Thompson of East Central also had impressive performances, earning them the SwingU College Player of the Month recognition.
