Alpine Unveils Drivers for Hypercar, Mick Schumacher’s Son to Compete in 24 Hours of Le Mans!

In 2024, Alpine will enter the World Endurance Championship, marking its debut in the Hypercar category. The French team has recently disclosed the identities of the six drivers who will form two teams vying for victory on the track.

Alpine is poised to return to the forefront of endurance racing in the upcoming season, where it will compete in the prestigious Hypercar category, alongside notable competitors such as Toyota, Ferrari, Cadillac, Peugeot, Porsche, BMW, and Lamborghini.

In preparation for this coveted challenge, Alpine has diligently readied its A424 prototype over the past months, with two units confirmed to partake in the World Endurance Championship in 2024. The team has just announced the six drivers who will steer the teams, with further details regarding the teams and the official livery of the A424 to be unveiled at the launch event on February 7.

Mick Schumacher, Carving his Own Path

One of the two trios will comprise of Nicolas Lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere, and Charles Milesi, all esteemed drivers in the Alpine Endurance Team. The other car will feature a quartet of Frenchman Paul-Loup Chatin, Austrian Ferdinand Habsburg, and German Mick Schumacher.

The celebrated German driver, son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, will make his debut in endurance racing, echoing his father’s legacy three decades on. It is noteworthy that Michael Schumacher made a name for himself in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, achieving a commendable 5th place finish overall in 1991, driving the Mercedes-Benz C11 alongside Karl Wendlinger and Fritz Kreutzpointner.

Alpine’s foray into the Hypercar category is fervently anticipated, and with the announcement of the esteemed driver lineup, excitement is palpable. The inclusion of Mick Schumacher adds a sense of nostalgia and eagerness, as fans eagerly await the 2024 World Endurance Championship.
