The United Cup Trophy, which stands at a height of 50cm, has recently been on a tour in Perth, Australia, where it visited various schools, Red Ball competitions, and local Tennis Clubs. Crafted by Thomas Lyte, a Royal Warrant holder as silversmiths and goldsmiths to Her Late Majesty The Queen and former Head of the Commonwealth, the United Cup features 36 sweeping rods to represent the 18-country mixed doubles partnerships, each meticulously shaped by hand. Thomas Lyte has a distinguished reputation for designing, creating, and restoring iconic trophies, including the Laver Cup, trophies for the ATP Finals, the FA Cup, the Rugby World Cup, and the Six Nations Championship. As part of its tour, the United Cup Trophy made its debut appearance for the Junior ITF Perth International players, as well as at schools and local tennis clubs, capturing the excitement of hundreds of school children and tennis club members.
The trophy made appearances at various locations across Perth, including Kardinya, Mandurah, East Fremantle Lawn Tennis Club, Applecross Senior High School, Alexander Park Tennis Club, Wembley Downs Tennis Club, UWA Tennis Club, Bayswater Tennis Club, and Applecross Tennis Club. The United Cup Trophy proved to be a highlight at every event, providing a picturesque backdrop against the scenic city skyline and Swan River. In total, 20 schools, including St Kieran’s, Mark MacKillop, and Our Lady of Grace, had the privilege of witnessing the United Cup Trophy.
