Polar Bears Skate to Victory Over Suffolk with 3-0 Win

In an exciting game on Saturday, the Bowdoin men’s ice hockey team secured a solid 3-0 victory against Suffolk University, maintaining their winning streak this season. The Polar Bears showed their skills and determination in shutting out the visiting Rams for the second time in a row. It seems that Bowdoin has found a winning formula in facing off against Suffolk, as they previously netted a 4-0 win in the Bowdoin-Colby Classic last year.

The game was filled with thrilling highlights, as Bowdoin took the lead with a remarkable goal at 12:02 in the first period. Gabe Shipper passed the puck to Isaac Abbott, who delivered a powerful slapshot to score his first collegiate goal. The excitement continued in the second period with Aidan Lyons managing to secure a power play goal, extending the Polar Bears’ lead to 2-0 with a brilliant move from a Jack Barbro feed. Finally, the team capitalized on a misplay by Suffolk’s goalie, resulting in a slick goal by Bryce Bollman, expertly set up by Jesse Lycan.

The numbers don’t lie, as Kevin Clark proved his skills once again in the net, earning his second win and second career shutout against Suffolk. With 12 saves under his belt, Clark’s performance was instrumental in securing the Polar Bears’ victory. On the other side, Jackson of Suffolk made 29 stops, showcasing his own prowess between the posts.

Furthermore, the Polar Bears showed their strength in penalty plays, with Suffolk going 0-for-5 on the power play, while Bowdoin managed to convert 1 out of 4 opportunities to score.

Looking ahead, Bowdoin will face off against New England College tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Colby. With their current form and determination, the Polar Bears are definitely a team to watch this season.

Overall, the game was a testament to the skill and teamwork of the Bowdoin men’s ice hockey team. The win against Suffolk is a clear indication of their potential and sets the stage for an exciting season ahead.
