The Dodge County team took on South St. Paul at the Dodge County Ice Arena, delivering a game that will be remembered for years to come. The No. 4-ranked Dodge County team dominated the No. 7-ranked Packers with an impressive 45-15 shot advantage. The Wildcats never trailed in the game, maintaining control from the moment McKenna LaFleur scored just 7:24 into the game. The team finished the first period with a 2-1 lead and extended it to 5-2 after the second period.
Nora Carstensen showcased exceptional skills, contributing two goals and two assists for the Wildcats. Maysie Koch also made a significant impact with one goal and two assists, while Mollie Koch secured one goal and one assist. Abby Simons added two more assists to the scoreboard. Goalie Ida Huber made 12 crucial saves to earn the team’s victory.
Although South St. Paul’s Lily Pachl managed to score two goals, it was not enough to counter Dodge County’s dominance. Molly Jeffrey, the goalie for South St. Paul, faced a barrage of shots and made an impressive 38 saves out of the 45 shots on goal.
The game concluded with a final score of 7-3 in favour of Dodge County, demonstrating their strength as a formidable contender in high school girls hockey. Their next game will be against New Prague at 7 p.m. on Friday.
In another thrilling match, New Prague faced off against Red Wing, resulting in a 7-3 victory for New Prague. The game saw exceptional performances from Emma Wilkins, Sophie Baker, and Nola Yochim, all of whom made crucial contributions to their team’s success.
