Tiger Woods Struggles at Hero World Challenge

Tiger Woods encountered yet another challenging round as he wrapped up the third day of the Hero World Challenge in 16th position. The 15-time major champion’s performance was diverse as he pursued his return in The Bahamas.

In spite of a difficult start with two bogeys, Woods was able to salvage his round with five birdies, concluding with a one-under par 71. This brought his total score to level par for the tournament.

The highlight of Woods’ day occurred at the ninth hole, where he executed an exceptional chip onto the green, securing his fourth birdie of the round. Nevertheless, a few errors on the back nine tainted his performance.

This tournament represents Woods’ first appearance since withdrawing from The Masters in April, and he maintains that he is playing without pain following ankle surgery seven months ago. Despite facing obstacles, the 47-year-old remains positive about his development.

Woods conveyed, “Not the ideal start but I got it turned around, and I was heading in the right direction. A missed putt at 14 and it could have been a little bit better than the score indicates. I think I could have shot something in the high 60s, which would have been nice, but it’s cleaner than yesterday. I still have game. It’s a matter of whether or not the body can do it. I’m very pleasantly surprised at how I’ve recovered every day.”

The golfing icon also provided insights into his physical condition, stating, “The ankle is fine. I’m a bit sore in other parts, but that’s OK. We are able to treat that every day. My sessions in the gym have been good. The treatment and lifting in the morning definitely helps, and as the weeks have gone on, we have got heavier, that’s always a good sign.”

Despite his determination, Woods is trailing behind the front-runner, Scottie Scheffler, who completed the day with an impressive eight-under. Scheffler’s outstanding performance places him three shots ahead of Matt Fitzpatrick, with Justin Thomas lagging by two shots in third place. Jordan Spieth, previously tied for the lead, has fallen to joint fourth place.

The final round of the Hero World Challenge promises an exciting conclusion, and golf enthusiasts can watch Tiger Woods in action live on Sky Sports Golf.

As Woods’ comeback continues, the golfing world eagerly awaits his performance and hopes for his steady progress in future tournaments.
