Indoor Hockey: Champions of the 2023 Season Decided at the NSC

The Isle of Man indoor hockey season for 2023 has formally concluded, with champions being crowned in six distinct divisions at the National Sports Centre (NSC). The finals, which took place on Saturday (2nd December), featured a series of intense and captivating matches spanning across the mixed, men’s, and ladies divisions.

In the men’s premiership, Bacchas A secured the top honours with a 7-5 victory over Vikings A. On the other hand, Valkyrs emerged as the champions in the ladies premiership, clinching a 5-3 win over Vikings A.

Vikings B claimed the title in the men’s division one category with a hard-fought 7-5 victory over Harlequins in the final match. Similarly, Harlequins emerged triumphant in the ladies division one, securing a closely contested 7-5 victory over Bacchas B.

One of the most thrilling finals of the day took place in the mixed premiership, with Vikings A and Castletown A vying for the title. Ultimately, Vikings A emerged victorious with a narrow 6-5 win over Castletown A.

The mixed division one title was determined after an exhilarating 4-4 draw in regular time between Harlequins and Valkyrs. Harlequins eventually clinched the trophy with a 2-1 victory on penalty strokes.

The Manx Hockey Association conveyed their gratitude towards the umpires and technical staff for ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the matches.

As the indoor hockey season draws to a close, attention now turns to the upcoming outdoor season, which promises to deliver more exhilarating matches and fierce competition for all hockey enthusiasts and supporters.
