The Glenrock Herders: A Promising Season Ahead

The Glenrock Herders are preparing for the upcoming high school basketball season with a strong emphasis on team bonding. Senior Gavin Zeiger noted that the team has been diligently working on building chemistry and engaging in a variety of team activities to strengthen their bond. As a result, the players are feeling optimistic about their improved team chemistry and are eagerly anticipating the impact it will have on their performance on the court this year.

Senior Mason O’Brien expressed his enthusiasm for the team’s unity, highlighting that the rigorous training sessions have been pivotal in enhancing their individual and collective skills. The players’ longstanding history of playing together and their participation in summer camps have considerably solidified their connection and camaraderie.

Following their return to 3A last year, the Herders are feeling more prepared to face the teams they competed against in the previous season. Head coach Shawn Huxtable conveyed confidence in the team’s preparedness to take on the competitive regional teams and eagerly anticipates an exciting season.

Despite ending last year with an overall record of 9-13 and a second-place finish in their quadrant, narrowly missing out on making the state playoffs, the team is resolute and driven to secure a spot in the playoffs this season. The players are determined to qualify for the state playoffs and win crucial games at the tournament.

Despite the departure of last year’s sole senior Logan Jones, the top scorer in the 3A conference, the Herders are welcoming back every other player from the previous season. Their aim is to cultivate a more balanced playing style and fortify their overall team dynamics. The team is eager to foster a supportive and cohesive environment, firmly believing that their collective efforts will establish them as formidable opponents on the court.

Looking towards the future, Coach Huxtable holds an optimistic outlook on the team’s potential for growth and improvement. He emphasized the team’s aspirations to surpass their previous season’s performance and set ambitious goals for the upcoming season. The players are eagerly anticipating the commencement of the season, scheduled to begin on December 8th with the Coal Miner Classic.

As the team prepares to embark on their basketball journey, the Glenrock Herders are steadfast in their determination to make an impact and achieve a successful season ahead. With their unwavering commitment and unified spirit, they are well-positioned to overcome challenges and strive for excellence on the court.
