Obi’s outstanding performance involved making 11 out of 16 shots, tying her previous record for most field goals made. She also managed to score 4 out of 7 three-pointers and 4 out of 5 free throws. All of these contributed to her game-high 30 points and a solid 13 rebounds, just two shy of her career best in rebounding.

In addition to Obi’s stellar performance, freshman Mataya Gayle contributed 14 points, four assists, three steals, and three rebounds, while playing the entire 40 minutes of the game alongside Obi. Junior players Lizzy Groetsch and Stina Almqvist also made valuable contributions to the team’s victory with points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

The Quakers’ excellent shooting throughout the game, converting 40 percent of their attempts, and their ability to force 17 turnovers from the Warriors, emphasized their dominance in the game.

The match commenced with a frenzy of three-pointers, with Obi and Gayle scoring a couple each, followed by Obi’s layup, swiftly securing an 11-5 lead for Penn. Even though the Warriors managed to erase this lead, the Quakers were relentless in their attack, even taking a one-point deficit at one time, and eventually closing the first half trailing 37-35.

The second half saw a remarkable comeback from the Quakers, pulling ahead to a 49-39 lead by the end of the third quarter. While the Warriors attempted to narrow the gap in the final quarter, the Quakers proved resilient, maintaining their lead and eventually securing the win with a final score of 71-62.

Looking ahead, the Quakers will conclude their road trip and Big 5 action at Temple on Sunday, with the game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

Jordan Obi’s remarkable performance, along with the team’s collective effort and determination, reflects the strength and skill of the University of Pennsylvania’s women’s basketball team, earning them a well-deserved victory in their recent game against Merrimack.
