Exciting College Basketball Showdown Set Between Fordham Rams and North Texas Mean Green at Barclays Center

The Fordham University Rams are preparing for their upcoming game against the University of North Texas Mean Green at the Barclays Center on Sunday, December 10. This game is part of the 2023 NABC Brooklyn Showcase, marking Fordham’s 121st varsity season and is anticipated to be an action-packed event.

For those interested in supporting Fordham’s men’s basketball program, the Ramses Challenge presents the perfect opportunity. Fans can pledge a fixed amount for every rebound, offensive rebound, steal, or assist made during the game. This philanthropic initiative offers a great way to advocate for the student-athletes, with all proceeds being tax-deductible and directly benefiting the men’s basketball program.

The game will be broadcast live on the YES Network, with Chris Shearn and Tim Capstraw providing play-by-play commentary and analysis. Furthermore, Fordham fans can tune in to the WFUV Sports YouTube page, where Miles Grossman and Colin Loughran will be hosting the live broadcast.

As the Fordham Rams enter the game with a 4-5 record, they aim to recover from an 80-77 loss to NJIT, while the North Texas Mean Green, with a 5-3 season record, are eager to bounce back from a 69-64 loss to Boise State.

Notably, this will be the first meeting between Fordham and North Texas on the basketball court. The matchup has generated significant interest, particularly as it marks the second American Athletic Conference opponent the Rams are facing this year, with Tulane being the first.

Several standout players will be taking the court for Fordham, with senior guard Japhet Medor leading the team in scoring and ranking second for assists. Likewise, sophomore forward Joshua Rivera is second in both scoring and rebounding. Senior guard Kyle Rose has a career total of 165 steals, placing him at tenth all-time at Fordham.

Senior guards Antrell Charlton and Kyle Rose are also excelling in their steal statistics, ranking third and fourth in the conference, respectively. Furthermore, senior forward Abdou Tsimbila’s impressive 21 blocks in eight games position him second in the Atlantic 10 and eleventh in the entire NCAA.

Sophomore forward Elijah Gray has shown significant improvement in his performance this year, with notable increases in both scoring and rebounding. Additionally, the team has elevated its offensive game, averaging 82.8 points per game over the past four games, an improvement from the 67.0 points per game recorded in the initial five games of the season.

It is noteworthy that the Rams have not lost any student-athletes to the transfer portal this season, a testament to the program’s stability and the players’ commitment to the team.

Following the game at the Barclays Center, the Rams will remain in New York City, preparing to face the St. John’s University Red Storm at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, December 16. With both teams poised to display their skills at this iconic venue, the game promises to be an eventful one for college basketball enthusiasts.
