Reckless Motorbikers Pose Threat to Local Rugby Pitch

Cliffe Recreation Field, a well-loved location for local rugby matches, has recently become the target of a group of motorbike and quad bike riders. The repeated damage to the field has raised concerns about the safety of children and dog walkers in the vicinity. The Cliffe and Cliffe Woods Parish Council has expressed serious apprehensions that if this behaviour persists, the field will no longer be viable for sporting activities.

In response to these distressing incidents, the parish council has unveiled plans to collaborate with Kent Police in the installation of physical barriers to prohibit unauthorized vehicles from accessing the field. Furthermore, they have installed top-tier video surveillance equipment to record any future acts of vandalism, and this footage will be used as evidence to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible.

The council has also urged members of the community to promptly report any anti-social behaviour they witness to the local authorities. By doing so, they aim to establish a comprehensive representation of criminal activity in the area, which will subsequently influence the police patrol routes to effectively tackle the issue at hand.

On the 1st of December, three individuals riding bikes were sighted on the field at 11am, and the footage of this occurrence has been expeditiously forwarded to the police for further investigation. The council has stressed the vital importance of collective action in combatting these disruptive activities, calling upon the community to unite against anti-social behaviour and contribute to the overall safety of the area.

The Cliffe Crusaders RFC, a local rugby team, utilizes the field for their matches, and the damage caused by the motorbikes has the potential to disrupt their sporting activities. Without the appropriate intervention, the field may no longer be suitable for purpose, leaving the team without a suitable venue for their games.

The parish council has been emphatic about the necessity for community involvement in addressing these issues. By collaborating with law enforcement and actively reporting any instances of vandalism, the aim is to deter future incidents and foster a serene and secure environment for all residents.

The disruptive actions of the motorbike riders not only pose a threat to the rugby field, but also mirror a more extensive issue of anti-social behaviour within the community. By taking a unified stance against these activities, the residents can contribute to the comprehensive improvement of the area and safeguard its amenities for future generations.
