The Flaming Gorge Classic Basketball Tournament 2023 has been the subject of significant interest. In the girls’ games at Green River High School, Lyman emerged victorious with a score of 42-35 against Natrona. Skyline from Idaho also secured a win with a score of 58-48 against Star Valley. Bear Lake, also from Idaho, achieved a narrow victory of 45-42 against Kelly Walsh. Meanwhile, the games at Rock Springs High School saw Manila, UT establish a commanding lead with a score of 65-38 against Farson, while Rawlins succumbed to South with a score of 26-29. The games at Lincoln Middle School concluded with Evanston scoring 13 and Pinedale scoring 56.
Turning to the boys’ games at Green River High School, Evanston faced Pinedale, and Mountain View went head to head with Green River. Riverton played against Grace, ID. At Rock Springs High School, Uintah, UT challenged Rawlins, and Bear Lake, ID competed against Rock Springs. The games at Lincoln Middle School concluded with various matchups, including Star Valley winning with a score of 59-54 against Thunder Basin, Grace, ID playing against Farson, South facing Pinedale, Thunder Basin taking on Evanston, and Natrona challenging Star Valley.
As the tournament progressed, the 2023 Flaming Gorge 3-Point / Slam Dunk Contest also took place. The winners of the 3-Point Contest for both girls and boys were yet to be announced, along with the Slam Dunk Contest winner. The anticipation for these results added an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.
