The Sheyenne Mustangs boys hockey team achieved a remarkable 3-2 triumph over the previously undefeated Grand Forks Central Knights. Cooper Clouse and Charlie Leshovsky propelled the Mustangs to an early lead with their goals in the first and second periods, respectively. Although the Knights fought back with two goals in the final period, Trace Meyer’s goal secured the victory for the Mustangs.
Following a slow start to the season, the Mustangs have rebounded with two consecutive wins. Their next match will be against Devils Lake on Tuesday, December 19th at 7:30 p.m. Grand Forks Central will seek to bounce back when they face off against Fargo North on the same day at 7:30 p.m.
In a separate match, the Moorhead boys hockey team fell short to State-Semifinalist Andover with a score of 3-1. Spuds’ goaltender Kai Weigel put on a stellar performance in the first period with multiple saves, but Andover managed to take the lead heading into the final period. Despite a goal by Zac Zimmerman early in the third period, Andover secured the win with two more goals.
Moorhead will be looking for redemption as they host Minnetonka tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
Finally, in girls basketball, Fargo North emerged victorious against Grand Forks Central with a 76-50 win in EDC play. Grace Thiel led the charge for Fargo North with 21 points, supported by Aspen Thompson’s 21 points for Grand Forks Central in a losing effort.
