Boston College Hockey Stars Chosen for U.S. National Junior Team

The 2024 U.S. National Junior Team for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden is set to include seven members from the Boston College men’s hockey team following their recent selection.

The chosen players are forwards Cutter Gauthier, Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault, and Will Smith, defensemen Drew Fortescue and Aram Minnetian, and goaltender Jacob Fowler. These individuals have secured spots on the 25-man roster representing the United States from Dec. 26, 2023, to Jan. 5, 2024, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Perreault (5-20-25), Smith (8-15-23), Gauthier (13-10-23) and Leonard (10-8-18) have demonstrated impressive performances and stand as the top scorers for the Boston College Eagles, contributing to their 13-3-1 record in 17 games this season. Additionally, Fortescue (3-1-4) and Minnetian (1-3-4) have displayed strong performances in all 17 games on the blue line, combining for a plus-10 rating and eight points.

Fowler, the talented goaltender, has garnered attention by winning back-to-back Hockey East Goaltender of the Month Awards. He currently leads the country in winning percentage with an exceptional 13-3-1 record and ranks 11th nationally with a .925 save percentage.

Gauthier, who previously represented the bronze-medal squad at the 2023 World Junior Championship, showcased his skills with a 4-6-10 line in seven games. He further impressed with a 7-2-9 line in 10 games for the U.S. at the 2023 IIHF Men’s World Championship.

The upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship games can be viewed on NHL Network, which will air every Team USA game live, along with all quarterfinal, semifinal and medal games.

The U.S. will commence the tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 26, playing against Norway at 11 a.m. (ET). The team’s schedule also includes matches against Switzerland, Czechia, and Slovakia in preliminary round action before the quarterfinals begin on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
