Swampscott Hockey Takes the Win in Overtime

The boys’ hockey game between Swampscott and Rockport culminated in a thrilling overtime goal from Will Roddy, assisted by Frankie Pappalardo and Derek Faia, resulting in a 2-1 victory for Swampscott. Faia also secured a goal for Swampscott on the power play, with assistance from Roddy and Pappalardo.

The Lynn Jets are still striving for their first win following a 9-3 defeat to Somerville. Nicholas DeNino made 30 saves, and Anthony Alessi, John Crowley, and Kyle Furlong scored for the Jets. The team eagerly anticipates their first home game against Everett-Revere.

Hingham and St. Mary’s also emerged victorious in their recent matches against St. John’s Prep and Bridgewater-Raynham, respectively. Jake Vana spearheaded the comeback for Hingham, while Jack D’Alelio, Michael Nerich, Aidan Fitzpatrick, and Marc Hilton Jr. scored for St. Mary’s.

In girls’ hockey, St. Mary’s maintains an unbeaten record with a 4-1 triumph over Archbishop Williams. Beverly also claimed victory against Marblehead, and Peabody-Lynnfield-North Reading defeated Shawsheen. Bishop Fenwick managed to keep Bishop Feehan at bay, with an exceptional performance from Ella Tucker in goal.

Conversely, the Lynn Classical boys’ basketball team suffered a tough loss against University High, with Marvin Avery Jr. leading the team with 17 points.

In wrestling, Marblehead-Swampscott placed sixth at Wakefield Memorial, with coach Michael Stamison commending the team for their diligence and commitment.
