It has been just over six months since Broad Street Hockey made the transition to an independent outlet dedicated to providing coverage for the Philadelphia Flyers. Initially, we encountered a few challenges, but we have since rebranded with a fresh look, a new plan, and a strong determination to ensure its success.
Our team comprises highly passionate and talented individuals who share a common love for the Philadelphia Flyers and its community. Our primary objective is to generate enough revenue to compensate our dedicated staff and maintain the functioning of our platform. At present, some of our team members are working without compensation, while others are receiving minimal pay. We are committed to our work out of love for the sport, fully aware that the prospect of becoming wealthy by writing about a moderately successful NHL hockey team is rather far-fetched.
Initially, we hoped to rely on the support of our readers to meet our goals, and the response has been overwhelming. From the moment we were liberated from the corporate media conglomerate that previously owned us, the generosity of this community has exceeded our expectations. However, as our operational costs rise, and we strive to provide fair compensation to our contributors, we have fallen slightly short in meeting our financial targets.
We are aware of the prevailing trend of paid content across various platforms, particularly in sports media. While it may be irksome to encounter paywalls when seeking information, it has become the reality of the contemporary media landscape. It’s understandable that many individuals are experiencing a sense of fatigue from an abundance of paid content requests.
Nonetheless, we are driven to make this endeavour a success. To this end, we have included modest advertisements on our site, aimed at further supporting our platform and ensuring the continuous delivery of top-quality Flyers content. While this is not our preferred approach, we aim to provide the option to remove advertisements for a nominal fee through our updated subscription packages.
We have introduced three subscription tiers: The Danny Syvret, priced at £3/month, offers an ad-free experience without additional content. The Meat (Matt) Read, priced at £5/month, provides an ad-free experience along with access to nearly all our paid content. The Eric Lindros, our premium tier at £10/month, encompasses all offerings from the lower tiers, inclusive of access to an exclusive BSH Discord and an exceptional weekly article by our top contributors.
For existing subscribers, your current subscription remains unchanged, entitling you to additional benefits. We are immensely grateful for your support and love for our platform. We have expanded the offerings for the £5 and £10 tiers to provide more value for your contributions. We are confident that you will find this new arrangement beneficial and rewarding.
With these changes, we envision offering a wider range of engaging content, with the objective of further enhancing the Broad Street Hockey experience. While we have been compelled to adopt these measures for sustainability, we sincerely hope for your understanding and continued support. Our aspiration is to cultivate this platform into a thriving space where Flyers enthusiasts can connect and engage with the best content available.
We invite you to be part of this journey, whether through your direct support or simply by being an active member of our vibrant community. This transition is a continual process, and we welcome any queries or feedback you may have as we strive to improve the Broad Street Hockey experience. Feel free to leave a comment below or reach out to us via email at [email protected].
Our pledge to you is an unwavering commitment to providing top-notch Flyers content and fostering a community that is second to none. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm.
