The 2023 World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi saw American tennis player Taylor Fritz and his partner, Morgan Riddle, attract attention. Riddle documented their presence at a concert by renowned rapper 50 Cent during the tournament on her Instagram story.
The World Tennis League is an innovative format in the sport, featuring four teams of four members competing over three days in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. With top players such as Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Daniil Medvedev, it is a must-see event for tennis enthusiasts.
A highlight of the tournament was 50 Cent’s energetic performance, where he performed chart-topping hits such as ‘In Da Club’, ‘Candy Shop’ and ‘Just a Lil Bit’. Riddle’s Instagram stories entertained viewers as they showed Fritz enjoying the concert and even singing along to 50 Cent’s memorable tunes.
In one post, Riddle captured Fritz in a lighthearted moment, singing the lyrics of 50 Cent’s ‘If I Can’t’ song. She humorously captioned the post as “The funniest thing to happen at a tennis tournament in 2023.”
Riddle also shared a humorous clip of Fritz taking a brief nap on the couch before the concert, playfully engaging her followers on whether they thought they would make it to the show. Their amusing behavior at the tournament added a touch of enjoyment and lightness to the competitive event.
For Fritz, the concert offered a welcome respite from the tournament, where he had a mixed performance on the first day. As part of Team Falcons, he partnered with Sumit Nagal, Elena Rybakina, and Sorana Cirstea, with their team currently in second place in the standings, trailing behind Team Kites.
Despite his performance at the World Tennis League, Fritz had a solid 2023 season. He led the US team to victory in the United Cup and reached the final of the Delray Beach Open, where he claimed his fifth career title. Additionally, he made it to the semifinals of several tournaments and secured his sixth title at the Atlanta Open.
Looking ahead, Fritz is preparing to start his 2024 season by representing the US team at the United Cup, alongside compatriots Jessica Pegula, Rajeev Ram, and others, as he aims to continue his winning streak on the court.
