Two Morehouse Grads Making Big Moves in Golf Apparel Industry

Two former Morehouse College students, Olajuwon Ajanaku and Earl Cooper, have successfully transitioned their shared love for golf into a flourishing business venture known as Eastside Golf. Ajanaku, with a background in corporate financing, and Cooper, a former aspiring professional golfer, joined forces to establish a brand that offers a fresh and youthful perspective on the sport of golf.

Their distinctive swingman logo, featuring Ajanaku in casual attire, garnered significant attention, leading to the decision to incorporate the logo into apparel. This bold move proved to be a success, as positive feedback at a PGA trade show validated their decision to commit fully to their brand. In its first year, Eastside Golf generated $100,000 in revenue, and the brand is anticipated to reach $4 million in annual revenue by 2023, with plans to expand the team from 2 to 16 employees.

Eastside Golf’s achievements have not gone unnoticed, with notable figures such as Barack Obama, DJ Khaled, and Dwyane Wade seen sporting their apparel. Collaborations with the likes of Jordan Brand, NBA, Apple, and Mercedes-Benz USA have further cemented the brand’s position in the industry.

Their partnership with the Jordan Brand has resulted in the launch of the Change 1961 Collection, featuring a range of apparel and shoes. Ajanaku has expressed his enthusiasm for contributing a unique perspective to the golf industry and collaborating with well-established names.

With aspirations to establish a physical store in Atlanta, GA, and a commitment to supporting youth and the next generation of golfers, Ajanaku and Cooper are dedicated to growing their brand and making a lasting impact on the game of golf.

The journey of these two Morehouse graduates, translating their passion for golf into a successful business, is truly remarkable. Their unwavering dedication and vision for the sport are not only inspiring but also indicative of the lasting impact they will have on the golf industry.
