According to reports from Continental 590 radio in Argentina, both Messi and Inter Miami’s head coach Tata Martino have personally reached out to Rojo to assess his interest in joining the team. Despite not having played alongside Messi at Barcelona, Rojo shares a strong international connection with the Argentine star, having represented their national team together in numerous matches.
Following his departure from Manchester United in 2021, many believed that Rojo’s career at the highest level of football had come to an end. However, Boca Juniors is a prestigious South American club, and Rojo has experienced success with the team, winning four trophies since his return to Argentina. Nevertheless, a move to Miami may appeal to the 33-year-old defender as Inter Miami seeks to strengthen its squad for the 2024 MLS season.
With Messi, Suarez, Busquets, and Alba already part of their roster, Inter Miami is expected to dominate the MLS. Adding Rojo to their defensive line would provide stability and a set-piece threat, complementing the attacking prowess of Messi and his former teammates.
