An Exciting Showdown: BARLA’s Yorkshire Cup Final at Featherstone Rovers

As the holiday season continues, the British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA) is preparing for a momentous occasion as they mark their 50th Anniversary with the 50th BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final. The event is scheduled to take place at 2.00 pm on Saturday 30 December at the Millennium Stadium, the esteemed home of Featherstone Rovers RLFC. The final will showcase Hunslet ARLFC, who have previously contended in a Yorkshire Cup Final, and Mirfield, who will be making their inaugural appearance in the final.

Both clubs are eager to secure victory and bring home this coveted prize for their respective clubs and supporters. Hunslet ARLFC, a product of the amalgamation between Hunslet Club Parkside and Hunslet Warriors, clinched the BARLA Yorkshire Cup two years ago with a 22-0 win over Doncaster Toll Bar. Meanwhile, this final serves as a significant opportunity for Mirfield to establish their presence.

This highly anticipated final not only provides the clubs with the opportunity to vie for the title, but also allows all supporters of the White Rose County to come together and savor some compelling rugby, offering the ideal means to shake off the Christmas festivities.

Sue Taylor MBE, Chair of BARLA, conveyed her enthusiasm for the impending final, remarking, “What better way to celebrate Christmas and usher in the New Year than with BARLA hosting its Yorkshire Cup Final at Featherstone Rovers. The clash between Hunslet ARLFC and Mirfield promises to be a thrilling final. I extend my congratulations to both sides for reaching this stage, and I have every confidence that both teams will deliver exceptional performances to emerge as champions of the 50th edition of the esteemed BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final.”

Taylor also urged supporters from both clubs, along with those from all clubs in Yorkshire—both amateur and professional—to attend the event and witness the battle for the title of the premier cup side in Yorkshire.

Admission for the game is priced at £5 for adults, £3 for concessions, and free for under 16s.

This enthralling event guarantees a riveting and fiercely competitive showdown as these two clubs vie for the title. It presents a splendid opportunity for rugby enthusiasts to come together and pay homage to the sport during the holiday season. With the illustrious history and significance of the 50th BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final, the day is set to be a captivating display of rugby action, camaraderie, and seasonal merriment.
