High School Girls Basketball: Updates from the Eastern States Invitational Christmas Tournament

The recent games in the Eastern States Invitational Christmas Tournament featured intense matchups and impressive performances from the participating high school girls’ basketball teams.

The Notre Dame High varsity girls’ basketball team competed fiercely in a challenging matchup against Bensalem, Pa. High. Despite a slow start, they managed to make the game competitive before ultimately falling 43-38. Simone Pintinalli and Meghan Connolly stood out for the Irish, contributing 11 and 10 points, respectively. Amber Howard led the scorers for Bensalem with an impressive 20 points.

Trenton Catholic Preparatory Academy also had an outstanding showing in the tournament, securing a 66-53 victory against the George School. Mayah Alford led the charge with 21 points, supported by Saniyah Spell, Olivia Moore, and Kayla Oliphant, who all scored in double figures.

In another game, the Greyhounds of Northern Burlington triumphed over Nottingham with a final score of 43-17. Jill Watson’s outstanding performance, scoring 15 points, helped secure the victory for her team.

Bordentown emerged victorious in the championship game of the Bordentown Holiday Hoops, clinching a 41-36 win over Lindenwold. Brookelyn Prester and – Wade were instrumental in their team’s success, both contributing 14 points each.

Despite a valiant effort by Florence, they were unable to overcome Triton, ultimately falling 53-33. Amanda Cech’s remarkable 20-point performance was a highlight for Florence in the game.

WW-P North delivered a stellar performance, defeating Matawan with a final score of 40-19. Jiana Karukapily’s 17 points were instrumental in securing the victory for her team.

Neptune emerged victorious against WW-P South in a dominant 56-17 win. Christa Ramos and Lana Ellington shone for Neptune, scoring 22 and 14 points, respectively.

The tournament also witnessed a thrilling game between Somerville and Princeton, with Somerville emerging victorious with a score of 50-39. Katie Sharkey’s impressive 18-point performance was not enough to carry Princeton to victory.

In the championship game of the Warrior Holiday Classic, Steinert secured a 41-24 win over New Egypt, with Brooke Sinay and Katie Corby leading the charge.

Hightstown demonstrated their prowess with a 54-29 victory against Raritan. Abby Misier, Caitlyn Nagle, and Angelina Benitez played key roles in their team’s success.

Finally, Immaculate Conception continued their undefeated streak with a 48-39 victory over Ewing. Rhian Stokes delivered a commendable performance, scoring 14 points for Ewing.

Overall, the Eastern States Invitational Christmas Tournament showcased thrilling matchups and exceptional performances from talented high school girls’ basketball teams, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next round of games.
