The California men’s tennis team has recently completed their participation in the Sherwood Collegiate Cup with a commendable total of eight victories. Notably, the Golden Bears achieved seven wins against their opponents from UCLA.
One of the standout performances came from Cal senior Lucas Magnaudet, who displayed impressive resilience in a singles match against Texas A&M’s Kenner Taylor, ultimately claiming victory with a 7-5, 6-7(4), 10-5 finish. In the doubles category, the Cal tandem of Alex Chang and John Kim secured a win over UCLA’s Alexander Hoogmartens and Govind Nada with a score of 7-6(8). Similarly, Ryder Jackson and Timofey Stepanov emerged victorious against the Bruins’ Emon van Loben Sels and Spencer Johnson, achieving a score of 6-1.
Noteworthy performances also came from Chang, who delivered a strong singles performance by defeating UCLA’s 121st-ranked Gianluca Balotta with an impressive score of 6-1, 6-0. Jackson also clinched his second win of the day, while Kim and other members of the team showcased their prowess on the court.
