The Super League has recently announced the launch of a new streaming service that is set to debut ahead of the 2024 season. This initiative is part of IMG’s broader strategy to revamp the sport in the UK, and it will provide live coverage of all 167 matches from the competition.
In the UK and Republic of Ireland, fans will have the opportunity to watch 106 live Super League games through the streaming service. The remaining 61 games will be available on a delayed basis and on-demand. Additionally, Sky Sports will continue to broadcast two exclusive fixtures per round.
According to RL Commercial’s managing director, Rhodri Jones, the introduction of SuperLeague+ marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Betfred Super League and British rugby league. As a result of a groundbreaking agreement with Sky Sports, all six matches in each of the 27 weekly rounds of the men’s Super League during the 2024 season – a total of 162 games – will be broadcast on various platforms. Sky Sports will provide exclusive live coverage of two fixtures in each round, while the new OTT platform, SuperLeague+, will offer live coverage of the remaining matches. Additionally, international subscribers will have access to live coverage of all matches in every round.
In addition to live matches, SuperLeague+ will also feature original programming, archive matches, and other special content. Thus, with the expanded coverage of rugby league on Sky Sports in 2024, including selections from the Betfred Women’s and Wheelchair Super Leagues, fans will have more viewing options than ever before.
The new streaming service will offer various subscription and pay-per-view packages, with the basic service starting at £19.99 per month or £129.99 annually. Season ticket holders will qualify for a discounted annual price of £99.99 when purchasing through their club’s redemption code. Furthermore, selected content will be available for pay-per-view starting at £6.99 per game.
The UK live coverage is set to commence on Friday, February 16, with matches featuring St Helens against newly promoted London Broncos, and 2023 Challenge Cup winners Leigh Leopards playing against Huddersfield Giants.
This new streaming service represents a significant advancement for Super League fans, providing a convenient and cost-effective way to enjoy their favorite matches from the comfort of their own homes. With the inclusion of additional content and the flexibility of pay-per-view options, sports enthusiasts will have unparalleled access to Super League action like never before. We encourage everyone to mark their calendars for the start of the 2024 season and not miss out on the thrilling matches that await.
