Reports from Italy have indicated that Atalanta has declined an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for their midfielder, Ederson. Both Il Corriere della Sera and L’Eco di Bergamo have confirmed that Atalanta refused to entertain any offers for Ederson during the January transfer window.
According to these reports, Tottenham attempted to inquire about the availability of the midfielder, but Atalanta made it clear that they had no intention of selling the Brazilian player in January. It appears that the club did not even consider the offer from North London.
Earlier in the transfer window, Newcastle also approached Atalanta with an offer for Ederson, only to receive the same response from the Italian club. This illustrates Atalanta’s firm stance in retaining their key player.
Ederson has played a crucial role in Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta squad, scoring an impressive six goals in 27 appearances across all competitions this season. The 24-year-old has demonstrated his versatility by excelling in both attacking and central midfield positions.
After making a €22 million move from Salernitana to Atalanta in the summer of 2022, Ederson is contracted to the club until June 2026.
The rejection of Tottenham’s bid for Ederson reflects Atalanta’s determination to hold on to their valuable assets and maintain a competitive edge in the Serie A. As the January transfer window comes to a close, it remains to be seen whether any further developments will arise regarding Ederson’s future at Atalanta.
