As the basketball season progresses, Greensburg Central Catholic has established itself as a strong contender in Class 2A. The team’s recent triumph over Serra Catholic, with a dramatic final shot resulting in a 61-59 victory, further solidifies their position in Section 3. This latest success represents the Centurions’ sixth consecutive win, placing them at the top of the Section 3 standings.

According to Centurions coach Christian Hyland, the game was a demanding contest, as Serra Catholic presented a formidable challenge, highlighting areas for improvement for the Centurions. Senior guard Tyree Turner played a pivotal role in the game, showcasing his exceptional skills and contributing significantly to the team’s success. Turner’s outstanding performance, combined with the team’s strong cohesion, sets Greensburg Central Catholic up for a tough matchup against Gateway in the upcoming Shootout at Seton Hill University.

Elsewhere, South Allegheny brought an end to Uniontown’s unbeaten run with a hard-fought 54-44 victory. Furthermore, numerous teams displayed their talents in various matches, with standout performances from the likes of Nate Girod, Gemma Walker, and Brady Mayo.
