Seventh Annual Captain Charity Golf Championship Set to Tee Off

The prestigious 2024 Captain Charity Invitational Golf Championship is scheduled to take place from January 26-28 at the esteemed Royal Golf Club in Kumasi. In its seventh iteration, this three-day event will feature over 100 golfers from all corners of the country, competing for a range of enticing prizes, including cash vouchers, trophies, and medals.

In line with its goal to promote the Captain One Kid’s Project, which aims to nurture golfing talent among children from underprivileged backgrounds, this year’s championship will also include the Kid’s Championship for the third consecutive year. This presents a wonderful opportunity for children from institutions such as the Safe Child Advocacy Care Home in Kumasi, Mama Love Foundation in Obuasi, and the Angel of Hope Orphanage Care Home in Tarkwa, amongst others, to demonstrate their emerging skills on the golf course.

Following the Kid’s event on Friday, both professional and amateur golfers will compete on Saturday for the ultimate championship title and a prestigious trophy. This year, the competitors will be aiming to surpass last year’s victor, Craig Tandoh, who impressed by dethroning the 2023 champion, James Akwaboah.

Tandoh’s unexpected victory in the previous championship has undoubtedly fueled his determination to defend his title and establish himself as one of the nation’s top golfers. The main event will unfold over the course of Saturday and Sunday, culminating in the recognition of a distinguished group of golfers for their exceptional performances.

Mr. Pius Ayeh Appiah, president of the Captain One Golf Society, expressed his delight at the prospect of hosting the event for the seventh consecutive year. He emphasized his enthusiasm for the Kid’s event, which has now become a cherished component of the annual championships, citing its role in inspiring hope within underprivileged communities.

Mr. Appiah underscored the society’s unwavering commitment to advancing the sport of golf by actively engaging young individuals, particularly females, and noted the substantial growth that the sport has experienced in recent years. Furthermore, he highlighted that the staging of the last Monthly Medal event in Tema last Sunday serves as a prelude to the upcoming main event, urging golfers to complete their registrations and converge at the Royal Golf Club for an unforgettable and highly competitive experience, all in the name of making a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged children nationwide.

In recognition of their invaluable support, Mr. Appiah extended his deep appreciation to the championship’s sponsors, including Servaco PPS, Kinkubi Solutions, RK Cliste, Flo Polo Designs, Run on Time Engineering, PEEW-Williams Engineering Services, Smart Procurement and Logistics, SK Logistics and Constructions, Royal Golf Club, and Mosak Photography.

This highly anticipated championship promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship, all while championing the noble cause of empowering disadvantaged children through the dynamic sport of golf.
