Renowned Spanish golfer Rafa Cabrera Bello, who has previously competed in the Ryder Cup and claimed victory in the 2012 HERO Dubai Desert Classic, recently conducted a private golf clinic for the students of Al Reefa School in Ras Al Khaimah. The special event took place during the $2.5 million Ras Al Khaimah Championship at the Al Hamra Golf Club.
The clinic was organised in partnership with the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) and Future Falcon’s NJDP initiative in UAE schools. The overarching goal of this initiative is to drive increased participation in golf among UAE nationals and residents. Moreover, the EGF has been working towards the development of a program that not only nurtures budding golfers but also focuses on the long-term athletic development of the youth.
As a result of this collaboration, students from these schools will have the opportunity to enrol in classes at their local golf clubs, allowing them to continue their golfing journey, forge lifelong friendships, and most importantly, have a great deal of fun along the way. With the support of the Emirates Schools Establishment, Emirates PGA, UAE golf clubs, and The R&A, the Future Falcons – NJDP is dedicated to integrating golf into the school curriculum across the UAE.
These forward-thinking initiatives are set to elevate golf participation to unprecedented levels and will undoubtedly serve as the catalyst for producing the country’s future elite golfers.
The Ras Al Khaimah Championship is now in its third edition, following the conclusion of the HERO Dubai Desert Classic last week. The tee times for the tournament have already been announced, with the first group, consisting of Matteo Manassero (IT), Sam Bairstow (Eng), and Jonas Blixt (Swe), teeing off at 7.10 am on Thursday.
A total of 132 players will be vying for victory in the eighth event of the 2023 – 24 DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai, out of a total of 45 events in the season. For more information, please visit www.EuropeanTour.com.
This wholesome initiative, spearheaded by Rafa Cabrera Bello, in collaboration with the EGF and other influential organisations, not only promotes the sport of golf but also provides a platform for aspiring young talents to pursue their passion and nurture their skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Such events play a crucial role in diversifying sports participation and fostering a culture of athleticism and healthy competition among the youth, setting the stage for a brighter future in the world of golf.
