A new and exciting venture may soon be introduced to Leeds, as Seacroft Films Investments Ltd and Seacroft Films Land Ltd have submitted proposals for the establishment of a trampoline park and padel tennis centre. The proposed project, currently awaiting approval from Leeds City Council, seeks to subdivide and repurpose Unit B located at Coal Road.
The planned Unit B would cover an impressive 60,000 sq ft and is set to accommodate Surge Padel Tennis, a popular racquet sport that combines elements of squash and tennis. Padel tennis courts offer a unique playing experience, being approximately one third the size of a standard tennis court. The proposed development features space for 12 padel tennis courts, as well as dedicated changing facilities for male and female players, along with a comfortable seating area for spectators.
Additionally, the centre is expected to create significant employment opportunities, with plans to establish 20 new jobs within the Surge Padel unit. Further employment prospects are also anticipated within the trampoline park unit, promising positive economic impacts for the local community.
Concurrently, Unit C is planned to span approximately 98,000 sq ft and is designated for the trampoline park. Negotiations are reportedly ongoing with a potential operator to bring this exciting addition to fruition. A proposed 330 car parking spaces are set to be available to accommodate the expected influx of visitors, ensuring convenient access for patrons of the padel tennis centre and trampoline park.
In a planning statement submitted as part of the application, it was emphasised that the proposed development would repurpose an existing vacant unit and bring about significant economic benefits. The creation of new jobs within the Surge Padel unit is expected to contribute to the overall growth of the local economy, generating positive effects beyond the immediate vicinity.
