Following their relocation from Catons Lane to Newport in 1994, the club has effectively expanded its influence, imparting the joy of the game to the neighbouring region. The recent enhancements to their clubhouse and the installation of a second synthetic surface have notably elevated the ambience of match days, fostering a lively and celebratory atmosphere.
In the most recent series of matches, the club’s emerging talents took centre stage, with two exceptional individuals securing positions in the first teams. Fourteen-year-old Hermione Barker made a significant impact on the women’s team, contributing to Walden’s impressive 3-0 triumph over Bishop’s Stortford. Additionally, seventeen-year-old Toby Weston displayed his expertise in the men’s team, aiding in their thrilling 3-2 victory against Stortford.
The club enjoyed an overall successful weekend, with victory in seven out of twelve matches and two ending in a draw. The men’s fourth team particularly excelled, securing a resounding 8-1 win over Braintree. Additionally, the men’s second and fifth teams delivered commendable performances, achieving 4-0 victories at home against Braintree and Basildon, respectively.
