Tyrrell Hatton Joins Forces with Jon Rahm in New Saudi-funded LIV Golf Team

Tyrrell Hatton, the internationally renowned professional golfer from England, has formally joined the Saudi-funded LIV Golf, aligning himself with Jon Rahm’s new team. This strategic move solidifies Hatton’s position among the most esteemed players in the sport, placing his skills at the forefront of the global golfing stage.

The decision for Hatton to join LIV Golf had been widely anticipated following the league’s acquisition of Jon Rahm towards the end of last year. The duo, who have previously partnered in Ryder Cup matches, will now be part of the same team under LIV Golf. This significant signing was initially reported by The Daily Telegraph, highlighting a substantial bonus of 50 million pounds ($63 million) accompanying Hatton’s agreement.

LIV Golf is preparing for its third year, with the upcoming tournament scheduled to take place at Mayakoba on the Gulf coast of Mexico. Hatton’s addition to Jon Rahm’s new team, Legion XIII, is expected to inject a new energy into the lineup. The team will also feature Kieran Vincent of Zimbabwe and Caleb Surratt, adding depth and diversity to their roster.

Jon Rahm expressed his thoughts on the new team, stating, “We’ve come a long way in a short period of time and are extremely proud of the team and brand we are building. As we were developing the team’s brand it became clear that I wanted to fight alongside a group of gentlemen who aligned perfectly with what the team stands for.”

Rahm further emphasized Hatton’s exceptional attributes, describing him as a “fierce competitor” and a “proven champion.” With a No. 16 world ranking and seven victories worldwide, including the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitation at Bay Hill in 2020, Hatton brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the team.

Looking ahead, Hatton expressed his enthusiasm for the new chapter in his career, stating, “I’m really excited for this next chapter, to link up with Jon Rahm and Legion XIII, and to get started this week in Mexico.” His upcoming appearances at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Phoenix Open have generated a buzz within the golfing community.

LIV Golf’s expansion now includes 13 teams, marking a new phase in the league’s growth. Each 54-hole event offers a substantial reward of $4 million to the individual winner, with an additional team competition based on scores.

As Hatton and Rahm prepare to showcase their talents under the banner of Legion XIII, the golfing world eagerly anticipates the impact of this new partnership. With the fusion of talent and experience, the collaboration holds the potential to redefine the landscape of professional golf on a global scale.
