It was a great honour to witness the presentation of a cheque worth £409 from the outgoing 2023 Seniors Captain, Steve Thompson, to representatives of the “Guide Dogs for the Blind” charity at the Axe Cliff GC Clubhouse, as reported by Dave Bruce.
The cheque was presented to Lena Welch, the newly appointed Group Co-ordinator for the East Devon Fundraising Group for the Charity based at Sidmouth. Accompanying her was Geoff Chapple, a well-known local volunteer who raises puppies for the organization.
Lena, who has been visually impaired since birth, expressed her gratitude to Steve and the Club for the generous donation, emphasizing that it takes £50,000 to fully raise and train a Guide Dog.
