Celebrating the 8th Annual 3 On 3 Hockey Tournament for Young Farmers

The Arnal Boys Memorial Bursary for Young Farmers is preparing for its eighth annual 3 On 3 hockey tournament, which will take place at the Eastend Rink Complex next weekend. This event holds great significance as it not only celebrates the sport of hockey but also serves as a means to honour and commemorate the memory of the Arnal brothers.

Chantal Henderson, a spokesperson for the bursary, has revealed that the organization offers bursaries to individuals between the ages of 8 and 18 who exhibit a passion for agriculture and are engaged in a related project or educational pursuit. This year, the bursary received a total of 14 applications following the February 1st deadline.

The tournament holds a deeper meaning as it provides an opportunity for families and friends to come together in support of the game while also paying tribute to the Arnal brothers. Henderson has extended an invitation for interested teams to register for the tournament, which will be divided into three age categories: 12 and under, 12-18, and adult teams. The registration fee for each team member is set at $40, with each team consisting of seven players. Students are guaranteed to play 3 games, while adults will have 2 games.

The event, scheduled to take place at the Eastend Rink Complex on February 17th and 18th, will include a live auction at 4 pm on February 17th, followed by a delightful dinner and dance at the Eastend Memorial Hall. The proceeds generated from the dinner and dance will be allocated towards the maintenance and enhancement of the Eastend Memorial Hall, thereby contributing to the betterment of the local community.

Tickets for the dinner and dance can be acquired from Eastend Agencies, offering a combined dinner and dance ticket for $35, or a dinner-only ticket for $25. Those interested in registering a team for the hockey tournament are encouraged to reach out to Chantal Henderson at 306-295-2303 or via email at [email protected].

Expressing her sentiments regarding the annual event, Henderson has emphasized that while the tournament originated from her family’s grief and challenges, it has since evolved into a weekend of enjoyment, laughter, and the company of good people. She stresses that the event not only serves as a source of solace for her family but also contributes towards furthering the bursary’s initiatives in supporting young farmers as they pursue their aspirations in agriculture.
