The women’s basketball team at Snow College is preparing to conclude its series of home games with two matches against North Idaho College on Thursday and the No. 15 College of Southern Idaho on Saturday. The game against NIC will commence at 5:00 p.m., while the Saturday match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. within the Horne Activity Center.
Saturday’s game will also serve as a special celebration for the Badgers as it is sophomore night, an occasion to honour the five two-year players who will be departing the team at the end of the season.
Following an 82-57 loss against No. 24 Utah State University Eastern, the Badgers are focused on elevating their performance, particularly after a second consecutive defeat from the Eagles.
This season, Snow College has experienced a mixture of results, holding a 3-4 record at home. While they secured a resounding 121-38 victory against Community Christian College, they have struggled with seven losses in nine games since beginning the season with a 10-3 record.
In their previous encounter with the Cardinals, the Badgers secured a 78-70 triumph led by Madison Hosino’s 21 points and Emily Evans’ double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. It was one of Snow College’s most impressive shooting performances, with a 48 percent success rate from the field. The team aims to replicate that form against the Golden Eagles after suffering a 91-49 loss in their previous encounter.
Historically, Snow College holds a 4-12 record against the Cardinals but has displayed improvement in their last three meetings. Similarly, they are 13-34 against the Golden Eagles and are seeking to end a twelve-game losing streak against the No. 15 team.
The recent 82-57 loss against Utah State University Eastern has left the Badgers with an overall record of 12-9 and 2-5 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Snow College is coming off two losses, including an 80-62 defeat against No. 23 Salt Lake Community College. The Eagles took an early lead, and despite Snow College’s efforts to close the gap, the opposition maintained their advantage and secured the win with a 38 percent field goal success rate.
After the recent setbacks, Snow College is eager to return home for their final series of games of the season. Hosting North Idaho College on Thursday, they are determined to secure a victory before heading out for their final regular season games.
Their upcoming match against the College of Southern Idaho, scheduled for Thursday, February 22, will be a tough test. With the Coyotes holding a 20-4 overall record, the Badgers will need to deliver their best performance to secure a positive outcome.
As they prepare to conclude their season with a combination of home and away games, the Snow College women’s basketball team is resolute in finishing on a high note and showcasing their potential against formidable opponents.
