The University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) women’s hockey team encountered a challenging start to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) postseason tournament on Friday as they suffered a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the second-seeded UW-Eau Claire in the semifinals.
However, amidst the tough loss, there were notable moments for the Yellowjackets. Gaby Andreacchi notably secured the team’s first goal on a power-play during the second period, reducing the deficit to 4-1. Jada LeBlanc also made a valuable contribution to the team’s efforts by scoring UWS’ final goal late in the third period, bringing them within four points of the Blugolds.
The team’s goaltender, Rose Beeman, exhibited remarkable resilience in the face of a formidable opponent, accumulating an impressive 32 saves despite the 6-2 loss.
