St. Xavier Claims Victory Over Male in 26th District Championship Game

St. Xavier High School’s basketball team emerged victorious in the championship game of the 26th District Tournament, defeating Male with a score of 77-66. This win marked the end of a five-game losing streak for St. Xavier, securing their first district championship since 2018.

Standout players Jeremiah Jackson and Graham Krezmien each contributed 20 points to lead the No. 7-ranked St. X (29-3) to victory. As a result, they have secured the opportunity to host a Seventh Region Tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday. On the other hand, Male (22-10) will face an away game for a regional quarterfinal on the same day, with the regional draw scheduled for Saturday.

Despite the loss, Cole Edelen of Male demonstrated an impressive performance, scoring 26 points for his team. Throughout the game, St. X maintained a lead, with Male trailing by as many as 15 points late in the second quarter. Although the Bulldogs attempted to narrow the gap with a basket from Max Gainey, they were unable to catch up, and St. Xavier emerged as the victor.
