The Triumph of Good Hope Girls Basketball in Winning the AHSAA Class 4A State Championship

The Good Hope girls basketball team achieved a momentous victory in capturing their inaugural state title by defeating T.R. Miller with a resounding score of 63-35 in the girls Class 4A AHSAA state championships on Friday at Legacy Arena in Birmingham.

The Raiders exhibited an impressive performance throughout the game, maintaining a 27-19 lead at halftime. Bailey Tetro’s exceptional contribution of 15 points and five steals in the first two quarters significantly bolstered the team’s position, while Ivey Maddox demonstrated her prowess with eight first-half points and two blocks.

The turning point came at the start of the third quarter, as Good Hope initiated a 9-0 run that foreshadowed the downfall of T.R. Miller. Capitalizing on 25 turnovers by their opponents, the Raiders secured 31 points, ultimately sealing their victory with a remarkable 44% shooting percentage as a team. The second half saw Good Hope outscoring T.R. Miller 27-16, solidifying their claim to the coveted Blue Map.

Maddox emerged as the game’s leading scorer with an impressive 20 points, closely followed by Tetro, who contributed 17 points to the team’s triumph. Ava McSwain also made a noteworthy impact with 12 points. On the opposing side, Jadin Curry managed to score 11 points for T.R. Miller, while Meg Fountain finished with 10 points.
