In an impressive victory, Keenon Clement led the VISTA PEAK Prep boys basketball team to a win at the Denver Coliseum during the Class 5A state playoffs. Despite their lack of experience playing at the venue, the team delivered an exceptional defensive performance and established a strong inside presence, paving the way for their remarkable achievement.
Their recent triumph over Ponderosa, with a final score of 57-41, has secured them a spot in the program’s inaugural Final Four on March 7. They are scheduled to compete against Windsor, a team they previously defeated during the regular season. Senior pivot, Kyree Polk, played a crucial role in their victory, delivering an outstanding performance with 17 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
The Bison initially faced a slow start, trailing Ponderosa 14-9 in the second quarter. However, they swiftly turned the tables with an impressive defensive showcase, limiting Ponderosa to just 8 points over the middle two quarters. Vista PEAK Prep’s offensive efforts were spearheaded by Alante Monroe-Elazier, Julian Carrizales, and James Brown III, all of whom contributed double-figure points to secure the impressive win.
Their dominance on both ends of the court enabled them to establish a commanding lead, concluding the third quarter with a 42-19 advantage, rendering the final period largely inconsequential. Ponderosa struggled to mount a comeback, ultimately falling short by a considerable margin.
This achievement represents a significant milestone for the Vista PEAK Prep boys basketball team and underscores their potential for further success in the future. With their impending appearance in the Final Four, they are positioned to make a lasting impact in the state playoffs.
The remarkable victory has garnered well-deserved attention for the team and their exceptional efforts throughout the season. Their journey serves as an inspiring example of dedication, skill, and teamwork, setting the stage for an exciting showdown in the upcoming Final Four.
