Golfing Success at Fosseway: Seniors Shine in Triples Texas Scramble Event

Fosseway Golf Club experienced an outstanding day on Saturday as members from the main club joined the Seniors for a triples Texas Scramble event. A total of forty players participated in this probable annual competition, which was organized for the first time in 2023.

The winning team, comprised of Ben Josham, Keith Doman, and Paul Ellis, achieved a gross score of 59. In second place were Dean Brook, Matt Rundle, and Paul Trigg with a gross 62, while Steve Jones, Roger Franklin, and John Bendle secured third place with a gross 65. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Dave Josham and John Fuller for their organization of this esteemed event.

Alongside the triples Texas Scramble, the Seniors’ competitions for the February and March medals also took place. Richard Dancey claimed the February medal with a nett score of 60, closely followed by Paul Trigg. Graham Edgell finished in third place with a nett 65.

Chris Appleton, the Seniors’ competition secretary, and Allen Cheney secured the top two spots in the March medal competition. Appleton prevailed over Cheney by one shot, with a commendable round of 76 (nett 61). His 15 handicap played a crucial role in his victory, while Cheney also delivered a strong performance with a nett score of 62. The most outstanding round of the day came from Martyn Cuer, who recorded a gross 73 (nett 63) to secure third place.

It was a superb day for all involved, and the level of play was truly exceptional. These events not only highlight the skill and talent of the golfers but also provide a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the sport.
