Harvard Women’s Tennis Continues Winning Streak, Triumphs Over Cal State Fullerton, 4-2

Harvard University’s women’s tennis team has extended their winning streak with a seventh consecutive victory, defeating Cal State Fullerton with a score of 4-2 during their California trip.

The day began with Iveta Daujotaite and Angel You displaying a strong performance in doubles, securing a solid 6-1 win. However, despite this strong start, the Crimson fell behind as the Titans managed to clinch the final two doubles wins.

The Titans claimed the first singles victory at the No. 3 spot, but that would be their last win of the day. Maxi Duncan performed exceptionally well, securing identical 6-3 decisions to defeat Seha Yu at the No. 4 spot. Sany Gawande swiftly followed suit, winning her match with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Kate Kim continued the winning streak at the No. 6 position, winning a pair of 6-4 decisions against Milena Gevorgyan, marking her 20th victory of the season.

Holly Fischer secured the win for Harvard at the No. 1 spot, winning the match and clinching the victory for the team.

This recent victory extends Harvard’s record-breaking start in program history, with the team now standing at 11-2 overall and having won their last seven contests. Highlights include the first victory of the season for Iveta Daujotaite and Angel You in the No. 2 doubles spot, and Kate Kim becoming the first Crimson player this season to surpass 10 wins in dual competition, with 20 singles matches won. Additionally, both Holly Fischer and Maxi Duncan stand side by side in overall singles victories, each collecting their 11th victory of the year.

The meeting between the two squads is only the second in the history of their encounters, with the Crimson remaining undefeated against the Titans.

In the upcoming match, Harvard will face Long Beach State on Thursday, March 14 at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT. This match presents another opportunity for the Crimson to continue their winning streak and further solidify their position in the league.
