Bengal Dominates Telangana in Women’s Hockey: Secures Spot in Quarterfinals

The Women’s National Hockey Championship witnessed an impressive display of skill from Sanjna Horo, who scored a hat-trick as Hockey Bengal achieved a resounding 11-0 victory over Telangana Hockey. The game, which occurred on Saturday, March 16th in Pune, saw Sanjna amass a total of five goals, with Susmita Panna also contributing a hat-trick, and Monika Nag scoring twice. This triumph secured Bengal’s place in the quarterfinals, with the squad finishing at the pinnacle of Pool H.

In a separate match, Uttar Pradesh Hockey secured a dominant 11-2 victory over Hockey Andhra Pradesh in an electrifying exhibition. Veteran Vandana Katariya notched a hat-trick, with Mumtaz Khan and Upasana Singh each contributing two goals. Despite the remarkable triumph, however, Uttar Pradesh Hockey failed to progress to the next round, finishing behind Hockey Jharkhand in Pool C.

During the day’s other matches, Delhi Hockey emerged triumphant against Kerala Hockey, while Chhatisgarh Hockey achieved their inaugural victory in the championship, prevailing over Hockey Bihar 2-0.

As the championship advances, teams such as Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Maharashtra, and Hockey Bengal have solidified their places in the quarterfinals. Exciting matchups are on the horizon as the competition intensifies.

In the upcoming games, Hockey Gujarat will compete against the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, while Hockey Uttarakhand will face Dadara & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
