The men’s tennis team from Hamilton College concluded their trip to Florida in impressive fashion, achieving two non-conference victories at the USTA National Campus on Monday, 18th March. Anson Anderson ’26 and Tarun Korwar ’27 were instrumental in the team’s success, contributing a total of six team points across both matches.
In the morning, Hamilton College secured a convincing 6-3 win over St. Lawrence University, sweeping the doubles matches. Subsequently, the team went on to achieve a flawless 9-0 victory against Goucher College in the late afternoon.
Anderson and Korwar, currently boasting a 6-2 record as a doubles team, delivered exceptional performances at the first flight. Anderson improved to 7-2 in dual matches, while Korwar maintained an impressive 14-3 singles record in his first season. Charlie Sternberg ’27 and Ignatio Tran ’27 also demonstrated their excellence as Hamilton’s most successful doubles pair this season, adding two more victories to their impressive 14-3 record at the third flight. They further solidified their winning streak with victories in their singles matches against Goucher at fourth and sixth flight, respectively.
Other notable performances came from Gianni Esposito ’24 and Connor Griff ’25, who secured wins at second flight doubles and singles, enhancing Griff’s record to 13-7 in doubles play and an outstanding 19-1 in singles after a straight sets victory at first flight against St. Lawrence. Nicolas Gritz ’25 also contributed to the team’s success, triumphing at third flight singles against Goucher for his 18th career victory, alongside Mark Apsey ’25, who emerged victorious at fifth flight singles against the Gophers.
Following their victories in Florida, the Continentals will be returning home for a conference match against Trinity College (5-2, 0-0 NESCAC) on Saturday, 23rd March at noon.
