The Goodhue Wildcats boys basketball team suffered a challenging defeat in the inaugural round of the Class A State tournament, succumbing to Fertile-Beltrami with a conclusive score of 64-57. Despite being within striking distance in the final minutes of the game, the Wildcats were unable to surpass the Falcons, who maintained their advantage to secure the triumph.
The squad was spearheaded by sophomore Luke Roschen, who exhibited an impressive performance with 18 points, and eighth-grader Alex Loos, who contributed 16 points to the contest. Conversely, senior Caiden Swenby led Fertile-Beltrami with a noteworthy 23 points.
Following their setback, Goodhue’s season will progress to the consolation round, where they are scheduled to encounter Heritage Christian Academy. The upcoming bout is slated to occur tomorrow at noon.
