Middle Tennessee State University’s women’s tennis team made the trip to El Paso, Texas this past weekend to compete against the UTEP Miners, ultimately clinching victory with a 4-1 win.
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point with triumphs on court No. 1 and No. 3. Rutuja Chaphalkar and Sana Garakani emerged victorious with a 6-2 win on court No. 1, while Lilly-Sophie Schmidt and Ilaria Sposetti claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 victory on court No. 3.
Sana Garakani made a significant contribution to the team’s success by defeating Mencaglia 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 1, leading Middle Tennessee to a 2-1 advantage. Lena Peyer continued the winning streak with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Telzynska on court No. 3. The victory was sealed by Chaphalkar on court No. 6 with a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over Hennicaux.
Looking ahead, the Blue Raiders are scheduled to host the Liberty Flames on Friday, April 5 at 4 p.m. CT at the Outdoor Tennis Facility, weather permitting.
