Budding Bermudian golfer Sienna Mosquera has attained an impressive third-place finish in the Hurricane Junior Tournament, which took place at the Fernandina Beach Golf Course in Florida.
According to a spokesperson, the aspiring athlete from Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda has once again showcased her potential by clinching third place in the highly competitive tournament. The weather conditions were ideal, with sunny skies, light winds, and temperatures ranging from 79 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Sienna managed to tie for the low score in the final round, placing her within 3 shots of the winner and ultimately settling for the third spot.
Sienna’s continuous dedication to improvement has been evident in her recent achievements. During Spring Break, she had the opportunity to compete alongside visiting UK golfers as part of the Bermuda, UK, & Ireland Golf Fam Trip. Notable participants in the event included Martyn Thompson, the Southwest England Girls Golf Coach, and Mrs. Alex Keighley, Pro at Huddersfield Golf Club.
Stepping out of her comfort zone, Sienna took on the challenge of competing in the Moongate Tournament at Port Royal from the Championship Tees, facing off against top male players. This experience undoubtedly serves as valuable preparation for her future endeavours in her home country.
The tournament’s competitive field offered an evenly matched playing field, where Sienna’s outstanding performance in the second round allowed her to make up significant ground. Her impressive drives consistently averaged 230 yards, and she effectively executed her game plan, resulting in an average of 1.6 putts per hole. In the final round, her short game shone as she managed to secure an impressive 14 pars out of 18 holes, ultimately shooting 77 (+5).
Looking ahead, Sienna’s next challenge awaits her on May 4th in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour at the Champions Gate CC Junior Open in Florida.
