The men’s tennis team at the University of Denver has begun to attract attention in the national rankings. With an impressive record of 17-0, the team has risen to No. 40 in the ITA Computerized Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point.
In a series of outstanding performances, the Pioneers secured victories in all three matches last week, solidifying their perfect start to the 2024 season. Not only did they achieve a resounding 6-1 win against Nevada, but they also overcame then-No. 62 Oregon with a 4-1 victory. To conclude their successful week, they dominated North Dakota with an impressive 7-0 sweep in their Summit League opener.
Their record is even more impressive considering they are the only unbeaten Division I men’s team in the nation. Along the way, the Pioneers have defeated several formidable opponents, including No. 56 Boise State, No. 66 New Mexico, No. 67 Oregon, No. 69 UTSA, and No. 71 Utah State. This string of victories has propelled them to their current No. 40 ranking.
The ITA Division I Men’s Collegiate Tennis Rankings are highly competitive, featuring the top 75 teams out of 243. The Pioneers’ recognition among these top teams is a testament to their exceptional talent and hard work.
Looking ahead, the University of Denver men’s tennis team is set to take their winning streak on the road for the penultimate week of the regular season. They will face off in two Summit League matches, first against Drake on Friday, April 5, followed by a match at Omaha on Sunday, April 7.
