Great Britain Suffers 7-1 Defeat Against Slovakia in Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship

The Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship held in Latvia witnessed a difficult defeat for Great Britain against Slovakia, with a final score of 7-1 in Division 1 Group B. The game, which took place in Riga, saw Slovakia quickly gaining control and securing an early lead with two goals.

Despite Katie Marsden’s commendable low shot into the bottom corner, which revitalized hope for the GB team, the first period concluded with Great Britain trailing 2-1. However, Slovakia dominated the middle period by scoring an additional four goals, further extending their lead with a seventh goal in the final minute of the game.

Ema Galisova emerged as a standout player for Slovakia, contributing two of the seven goals scored by her team. Meanwhile, Katie Marsden was recognized as GB’s player of the game. Looking ahead, GB is set to face Slovenia on Friday, 5 April, followed by a final game against hosts Latvia the next day.
