The women’s tennis team at Hamilton College was faced with a challenging match on Saturday, April 6th, as they battled against the formidable Bowdoin College players. Despite a valiant effort, the Continentals were ultimately defeated with a score of 7-2 in the NESCAC showdown at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
Currently holding a 4-4 overall record and a 1-3 standing in the NESCAC, the Hamilton team is now preparing to compete against Colby College, which is ranked 31st in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Collegiate Tennis Rankings. This conference match is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 7th. On the other hand, the Bowdoin Polar Bears, with a 5-4 overall record and a 2-0 NESCAC standing, are positioned 22nd by the ITA.
Despite the defeat, Stephanie Pratt ’25 delivered an outstanding performance during the competition. Pratt achieved victories in both singles and doubles play for Hamilton. Notably, she secured her first win against a NESCAC opponent this spring with a straight-sets triumph at the second flight singles.
In doubles play, Pratt partnered with Hannah Apsey ’25, securing an impressive 8-3 victory at first flight doubles. This dynamic duo has been performing exceptionally well this spring, boasting a 5-2 record and holding a strong career record of 11-5 as a doubles team. Their exceptional performance has also earned them the sixth spot in the Northeast Region doubles rankings.
