“Actors Celebrate Wrexham’s League One Promotion”

The Welsh football club, propelled into the global spotlight since the Hollywood actors took over in 2021, has secured their place in League One for the upcoming season. Ryan Reynolds expressed his emotional reaction, stating that he cried “tears of joy” after Wrexham clinched a second successive promotion, while Rob McElhenney mentioned that he has “no words”.

Both Reynolds and McElhenney, who took over Wrexham in 2021, were delighted to see their team secure their place in League One next season with a resounding 6-0 victory over Forest Green. Fans enthusiastically poured onto the pitch to celebrate at the end of the game at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham’s promotion to the Football League at the end of last season marked their return after a 15-year absence. The open top bus parade was attended by tens of thousands of fans, demonstrating the extent of the team’s achievement.

Ryan Reynolds, known for his role as Deadpool, took to social media to express his elation, writing: “A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney. Congrats to Wrexham and to my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives.”

Co-creator of “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”, Rob McElhenney, also shared his excitement by stating that he was watching the game from Los Angeles and could not find the right words to describe his feelings. He went on to praise striker Paul Mullin for his outstanding performance during the game.

Since taking over the club in February 2021, McElhenney and Reynolds, along with their popular docuseries “Welcome To Wrexham”, have propelled the club into the global spotlight. Their work has been recognized and celebrated by the Welsh Government, the Football Association of Wales, and S4C for promoting the country and its language with the Dragon Award. The club has also seen a meeting between Reynolds and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as well as recent royal visits from the Prince of Wales and the King and Queen.

Overall, the actors’ commitment and dedication to the Wrexham football club has not only increased its profile, but has also led to the team’s commendable success, ultimately securing their place in League One for the upcoming season.
