The Santa Clara women’s tennis team experienced a difficult 4-1 defeat against Pacific in a West Coast Conference away game on Tuesday.
Early in the game, Pacific’s team secured victories in two out of the three doubles matches, and continued their momentum by winning three of the first four singles matches, resulting in a 4-1 victory. Indiya McLeod clinched the win for Pacific by beating Gabriela Tevez 6-4, 6-4 in a singles match on court four.
Despite the loss, Santa Clara managed to secure a point when JennaMarie Gordon triumphed over Kiara Kosan with a score of 6-1, 6-3 in a singles match on court one. However, Pacific’s McLeod and Tomi Main won both their doubles and singles matches, tipping the scales in their favor. The Broncos’ doubles pair of Finley Kalinic and Varya Zlotnik won their match against Milena Maiorova and Alexis Sam, but it wasn’t enough to secure the overall victory.
Looking ahead, Santa Clara will conclude their regular season with a home game against Gonzaga on Saturday. Before the match, a pre-match ceremony will be held to honour four seniors – JennaMarie Gordon, Finley Kalinic, Gaby Tevez, and Varya Zlotnik. The ceremony will begin at 11:15 a.m. PT, with the first serve scheduled for noon.
