The Louisville Women’s Basketball Team Secures Commitment from Standout Guard Imari Berry

The Louisville women’s basketball program has experienced a significant boost with the commitment of Clarksville (Tenn.) HS guard Imari Berry, a highly-touted five-star prospect in the Class of 2024 and a McDonald’s All-American. Berry announced her decision on Saturday, selecting Louisville over competing offers from Kentucky and North Carolina.

This commitment follows Berry’s previous signing with Clemson, where she had been committed since last August and officially signed during the November early signing period. However, her decision was influenced by the recent firing of Clemson’s head coach Amanda Butler, prompting Berry to request a release from her National Letter of Intent.

Securing the commitment of Berry represents a significant recruiting victory for Louisville, as she is ranked as the No. 7 guard and No. 16 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle by ESPN. Her arrival at Louisville marks the highest-ranked recruit for the team since Payton Verhulst in the Class of 2021, and the ninth-highest-ranked recruit for the Cardinals in the modern recruiting era.

Berry’s outstanding performance as a senior at Clarksville solidifies her as an exceptional talent. She played a pivotal role in leading the Lady Wildcats to a 31-4 record and a spot in the TSSAA Class 4A quarterfinals, averaging 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.1 steals, and 2.8 assists per game. As a result, she was awarded the titles of TSSAA Class 4A Miss Basketball and Tennessee Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year.

With Berry’s commitment, Louisville now boasts an impressive seven-player recruiting class for the 2024 cycle. Joining her are fellow ESPNW 100 recruits including Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon teammates forward Mackenly Randolph and guard Izela Arenas, as well as Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy guard Tajianna Roberts. The team also holds commitments from Detroit (Mich.) Renaissance forward Anaya Hardy, Australian post Isla Juffermans, and Louisville (Ky.) Sacred Heart’s Reagan Bender.

Imari Berry’s decision to join the Louisville women’s basketball program adds undeniable talent and depth to the team’s roster, positioning them for continued success in the seasons to come.
